Tango Classes @ MIT

  • MIT 50 Vassar St, Bld 36, Rm 156 Cambridge, MA (map)

This mini-intensive session runs for three Wednesdays, January 11, 18 and 24. Please note, classes run for 1.5 hours each.

Better Body Skills for Tango, 7:00-8:30
Improvisation Skills for Tango, 8:30-10:00

Better Body Skills for Tango
Body Awareness, alignment, balance, stability, weight transfer, free range of movement, pivots and spirals — fundamental skills such as these dictate the progress of your tango learning. In this class we’ll focus on these to improve the quality of your movement. Then we apply them to Argentine tango technique to improve all aspects of your dance and help you get more out of all your tango classes. Be ready for focused work (and play) with mind and body!

Improvisation Skills for Tango
Leaders and followers, you’re gathering the moves and material in your tango classes, how do you start to create something together? We’ll focus on the tools and technique that give dancers in both roles the ability to shape the dance as it unfolds, in the moment, to express the music and themselves.
